Alloy 42 is an iron-nickel alloy, consisting of 42% nickel. It is commonly used in many electronic components such as semiconductor packages, tubes, CRT electron guns, and automotive and industrial lamps. As a controlled expansion alloy, it has low thermal expansion characteristics over a range of temperatures which is desirable.

Alloy 42 has good workability, weldability, and is shock-resistant. It is perfect for glass-sealing applications in microelectronic components and vacuum devices, on top of lead-in-wires required for electric light bulbs. As you can see, it holds all of the characteristics needed for electronic manufacture.
